Agartala, 29: Calling the shooting of workers highly unfortunate, BJP state president and MLA Abhishek Debroy said the party had issued instructions across the state for a peaceful election and that voting passed off peacefully in most places. He spoke to reporters after visiting the injured at GB Pant Hospital. Debroy enquired about the physical condition of the injured workers at the hospital. He also spoke to their family members.
He said the police have been asked to investigate the incident. Who came suddenly and carried out the attack is a matter for investigation, he said. "It is a deep conspiracy," Debroy said. According to him, the police are looking into the matter, and the facts will become clear once the investigation is complete.
Referring to one of the injured workers as a young man from his own assembly constituency, Debroy said he was deeply hurt by the incident. "The boy is very good. He is from my constituency. I am deeply hurt and saddened. I could not sleep last night because I was crying," he said. Expressing sympathy for the worker's family, Debroy said that as the local MLA, it was his responsibility to stand by them and provide all necessary help.
