Tripura Hikes Festival Grant by ₹300 for Government Employees, Pensioners Ahead of Durga Puja
Sep 23, 2026
Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Wednesday announced a ₹300 increase in the festival grant for various categories of government employees, pensioners and other workers ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja festivities.
Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat, Mr Singha Roy said the revised grant would benefit 1,48,501 regular and contractual government employees, along with 85,916 pensioners and family pensioners across the state.
Under the new rates, Group-C and Group-D employees, pensioners, family pensioners, priests serving in government-run temples, and Finance Department-approved DRW workers will now receive ₹2,400, up from ₹2,100.
The festival grant for PTW, casual and contractual workers, Anganwadi workers and helpers, Home Guards, Special Police Officers (SPOs) and daily-wage workers has been raised from ₹2,310 to ₹2,610. Part-time pump operators attached to the Drinking Water and Sanitation, and Rural Development (Panchayat) departments will receive ₹1,350, up from ₹1,050.
The Minister said the enhancement would entail an additional expenditure of approximately ₹6.14 crore for the state exchequer. He noted that the festival grant, which stood at just ₹700 in 2017-18, has been substantially raised over the years under the current government.
Mr Singha Roy clarified that the advance festival grant for government employees would remain unchanged. Applications for the advance grant must be submitted online through the NextGen HRMS portal, with the state government expected to require around ₹183.77 crore for its disbursement this year.
Employees belonging to different faiths and communities may apply for the advance grant against one festival of their choice — including Durga Puja, Christmas, Garia Puja, Buddha Purnima, Eid-ul-Adha, Bengali New Year, Eid-ul-Fitr, Guru Nanak Jayanti or Mahavir Jayanti.
Finance Department Secretary P.K. Goel and Additional Secretary Dr Akincan Sarkar were also present at the press conference.
