Keerthy Suresh Says Dorothy’s Impact Goes Beyond Screen Time
Sep 21, 2026
Keerthy Suresh has spoken about her role in Dorothy, which recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2026. The Karthik Subbaraj directorial received a standing ovation following its screening.
The National Award-winning actress plays the titular character and said Dorothy holds a special place in her heart despite having limited screen time.
Describing the character, Keerthy said Dorothy is subtle, authentic and someone who remains true to herself. She added that the character comes from a different background and faces her own set of struggles throughout the story.
Keerthy revealed that Dorothy has approximately 20 to 25 minutes of screen time in the film. However, she believes the character's significance extends far beyond the amount of time she appears on screen.
“This is a character that really left a special place in my heart because the presence of the character is much more impactful than what you just see,” Keerthy said, adding that audiences may continue to reflect on Dorothy even after the film ends.
For Keerthy, the character's impact is defined not by her screen time but by the lasting impression she leaves on the story and the audience.
