Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday performed the Bhumi Pujan for an advanced radar facility of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) at Chandrapur.
The facility, being developed by ISRO’s Indian Space Research Organisation Telemetry Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC), will be part of Project NETRA, India’s initiative to strengthen space situational awareness and monitor objects in orbit.
The radar facility is expected to enhance India’s ability to track and monitor space objects, strengthening the country’s space surveillance capabilities and helping protect its space-based assets.
The project also marks a significant step in expanding Assam’s role in India’s growing space and high-technology sector.
