Defence Ministry Signs ₹586 Crore Tank APU Deal

The Defence Ministry on Monday signed a ₹586 crore contract with New Delhi-based Accurate Industrial Controls Private Limited for the procurement of Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) for the Indian Army’s T-72 and T-90 tanks.

The contract was signed in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.

According to the ministry, the indigenously developed APUs will provide an alternative source of electrical power for critical tank systems, including the fire control system, firing circuit and gun stabilisation system, as well as other ancillary equipment.

The induction of these APUs is expected to strengthen the operational readiness, reliability and sustainability of the Indian Army’s mechanised formations.

The ministry said the procurement marks a significant step towards the indigenisation of critical sub-systems for armoured platforms. It also highlights the role of industry-led research and development under the Make-II initiative in translating indigenous innovation into production and inductio
