Sep 18, 2026
Vishwakarma Puja was celebrated across Tripura on Friday with traditional fervour and devotion, as workers from various sectors gathered to worship Lord Vishwakarma, revered as the divine architect and engineer of the gods.
Artisans, craftsmen, mechanics, welders, masons, industrial workers and factory employees participated in the celebrations, offering prayers for safety, prosperity and the smooth functioning of their tools and machinery.
Puja ceremonies were organised at workplaces and in neighbourhoods across the state, including bus terminals, auto-rickshaw and cycle-rickshaw stands. Vehicles were decorated with flowers, garlands and colourful streamers, adding a festive touch to the celebrations.
Several factories, garages, workshops and other establishments remained closed for the day, allowing workers to take part in the rituals. Idols and framed photographs of Lord Vishwakarma were installed at automobile shops, workshops and even inside buses and cabs.
Devotional songs, special feasts and community gatherings marked the occasion. Many engineers and technicians also refrained from operating machinery and other equipment as a mark of respect for the deity.
The celebrations reflected the deep cultural significance of Vishwakarma Puja and the respect workers have for their tools, machines and professions. Across Tripura, the festival brought together people from different walks of life in a spirit of devotion, gratitude and festivity.
