Preparations Begin for Deepavali Fair at Maa Tripura Sundari Temple

Preparations are underway for the annual Deepavali fair at the historic Maa Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur, with the three-day event scheduled for November 6 to 8, officials decided at a coordination meeting held on Thursday.

The first coordination meeting for the fair was held at the conference hall of the Gomati District Magistrate's office. Gomati Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Debal Debroy chaired the meeting. MLA Abhishek Debroy, Gomati District Magistrate Rinku Lather, and senior officials from various departments were present.

Security and surveillance arrangements received particular attention at the meeting. It was decided that drone cameras would be used to monitor the fair, while CCTV cameras will be installed at key locations across the fair grounds and temple premises to track the movement of visitors and pilgrims.

Alongside the religious proceedings, cultural programmes will also be held every evening at the open-air stage in the fair grounds. According to officials, artists from Tripura and other parts of the country are expected to take part.

A central organising committee and 14 sub-committees have been formed to ensure smooth conduct of the fair and coordination among departments. The central organising committee will be led by Debroy.

Work has already begun on crowd control, security, infrastructure, transport and other logistical arrangements, along with coordination among various government departments. The administration is taking several steps to ensure the three-day fair proceeds smoothly and without disruption.

The Maa Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur is traditionally regarded as one of the country's 51 Shakti Peethas. As a result, the fair draws a large number of pilgrims and visitors every year during Deepavali.
