MoS for Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse Pushes Organic Farming in Mizoram

Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse has stressed the need to promote organic farming in Mizoram to boost agricultural production and help local farmers market their produce outside the state.

Khadse, who arrived in Mizoram on Tuesday, visited Saitual district after spending time in Aizawl and held discussions with senior government officials and representatives of various sports organisations.

Addressing the meeting, the Union Minister said Mizoram has significant potential in organic farming and stressed the need to establish proper systems for processing and packaging agricultural and horticultural products. Such measures, she said, could help local produce reach markets beyond the state.

Khadse also urged government officials to take greater initiative to ensure that people benefit more effectively from various Central government schemes. She called for stronger efforts at the local level to improve the delivery of welfare and development programmes.

During her visit, Khadse also held discussions with Mizoram Sports Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar on the development of sports infrastructure in the state. She stressed the importance of identifying and nurturing sporting talent among children at the school level.

The Union Minister further encouraged young people to participate in anti-drug initiatives through the government’s Mera Yuva Bharat programme, aimed at promoting youth participation and helping prevent substance abuse.

The visit highlighted the need for coordinated efforts in agriculture, sports and youth development to create greater opportunities for the people of Mizoram.
