The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced Debasish Sharma as its candidate for the upcoming by-election to the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency in Assam.
The party’s Central Election Committee approved Sharma’s candidature. The notification for the by-election was issued last week, and candidates can file their nominations until September 16.
Polling for the Nagaon Lok Sabha seat will be held on October 6, while the counting of votes is scheduled for October 9.
The October 6 polling will also cover five Assembly constituencies across three Union Territories/states. These include Madurantakam and Dharapuram in Tamil Nadu, Rejinagar and Nandigram in West Bengal, and Thattanchavady in Puducherry.
