Prolonged Suffering Ends with Successful Free Surgery at State Cancer Centre

After months of severe menstrual pain and prolonged bleeding that did not improve despite treatment elsewhere, a 42-year-old woman from Kumari Tilla in the capital finally found relief at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Centre, where doctors successfully performed a laparoscopic total hysterectomy.

The woman had been experiencing intense pain during her periods along with a persistent sensation of heaviness in her lower abdomen. Having sought treatment and medication at several places without improvement, she eventually approached the state's Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Centre for further care.

She was brought to the hospital's outpatient department on August 20, 2026. Recognising the seriousness of her condition, doctors referred her to the surgery department, where specialist cancer doctors carried out detailed tests. The reports confirmed the presence of endometrial hyperplasia, which doctors said could be removed through surgery.

Subsequently, she was admitted under the supervision of the surgery department's specialist cancer doctors on September 6, 2026. The following day, hospital surgeons successfully performed the laparoscopic total hysterectomy. She recovered steadily and was discharged on September 9, 2026.

Hospital officials noted that specialist doctors at the centre had earlier performed similar free surgeries for 15 other patients facing comparable conditions. This surgery, too, was carried out entirely free of cost through the Ayushman card.

The woman's family expressed their gratitude to the doctors and staff of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Centre for making it possible for her to undergo a complex, free surgery without having to travel outside the state for treatment.
