Significant reshuffle in Mizoram’s electoral roll during SIR

Mizoram’s electoral roll has undergone a significant reshuffle following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision, or SIR, with 32,280 names deleted and 39,243 new electors added.

The final electoral roll, published today, puts the state’s total number of electors at 8 lakh 35 thousand 869, marking a net increase of 6,963 voters, or 0.84 per cent, over the draft roll.

The final roll also records Mizoram’s first third-gender elector. It includes 4 lakh 3 thousand 179 male voters, 4 lakh 32 thousand 689 female voters and one third-gender elector.

The inclusion of the third-gender elector marks a notable development in Mizoram’s electoral records and reflects the changing composition of the state’s electorate.
