Mohanlal’s upcoming film, previously known as L367, has officially been titled Operation Ganga. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Vishnu Mohan, the film is inspired by India’s evacuation mission to bring back citizens stranded in Ukraine following the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war in 2022.
The makers announced the title on social media, confirming the film’s connection to the real-life evacuation operation. Mohanlal headlines the project, which also features Arjun Rampal, Bhagyashri Borse, Parthiban and Adil Hussain in key roles.
Operation Ganga was the name given to India’s evacuation effort launched in February 2022, after the Russia-Ukraine conflict left thousands of Indian citizens, including a large number of students, stranded in Ukraine. The film will draw inspiration from the events surrounding the mission and its efforts to bring Indian citizens safely back home.
The project marks Vishnu Mohan’s second directorial venture after Meppadiyan, his debut film, which earned him the National Film Award for Best Debut Film of a Director.
With its real-life subject and ensemble cast, Operation Ganga is expected to present a dramatic portrayal of one of India’s major evacuation missions in recent years.
