Bangladeshi National, Indian Agent Held for Illegal Border Crossing, Produced in Bishalgarh Court

Two persons, a Bangladeshi national and an Indian national, arrested by Madhupur police in connection with illegal border crossing, were produced before the Bishalgarh Sub-divisional court on Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, the arrested Bangladeshi national has been identified as Ashish Chandra Pal, a resident of Ghoshpara area under Sadar Dakshin police station in Comilla district, Bangladesh. He allegedly entered India illegally through the Khowai border on July 18.
Police sources said that in order to return to Bangladesh, Pal contacted an agent identified as Babul Das, a resident of Konaban Chakbasta area in Tripura, through a person based in the Mayapur area of Kolkata.
According to police, the two were apprehended by Madhupur police while preparing to cross back into Bangladesh through an illegal route with the help of the agent. Police are investigating whether anyone else is involved in the illegal cross border movement.
It is learned that the arrested persons are being questioned in an effort to gather information about others who may be linked to the racket. The two were produced before the Bishalgarh subdivisional court on Wednesday afternoon.
