Tripura Sets Off Major Administrative Reshuffle, Ten Officers Reassigned

A sweeping reshuffle has been set in motion within Tripura's administrative machinery, with ten IAS and Tripura Civil Service (TCS) officers receiving fresh postings under a Governor's order.
The order, notified by the General Administration (Personnel and Training) Department in Agartala on August 28, 2026, reassigns Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Special Secretaries and departmental directors across the state, effective immediately.
According to the notification, issued in the interest of public service and to remain in force until further orders, two senior IAS officers holding the rank of Special Secretary have been relieved of certain additional responsibilities.
Kuntal Das, IAS, Special Secretary in the OBC Welfare and Industries & Commerce (Handloom, Handicrafts & Sericulture) Department, has been relieved from the additional charges of Director, OBC Welfare, and Managing Director, Tripura OBC Welfare Co-operative Development Corporation.
Tamal Majumdar, IAS, Special Secretary in the Home (Fire & Emergency Services) Department, has been relieved from the additional charge of Director of Urban Development, though he continues to hold charge as Director, Fire & Emergency Services, and as Special Secretary, Urban Development Department.
The vacated charge of Director of Urban Development has been handed to Nirmal Kumar, IAS, who moves from his post as Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Khowai, and CEO, Khowai Municipal Council, to take over as Director of Urban Development, Agartala.
He will additionally hold charge as Director, OBC Welfare, and Managing Director, Tripura OBC Welfare Co-operative Development Corporation.
Meanwhile, four IAS officers who have completed their Phase-II training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, have been given their first field postings as Sub-Divisional Magistrates.
Rimita Saha takes over as Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Khowai, with additional charge of CEO, Khowai Municipal Council.
Thite Shubham Bhagvan is posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kanchanpur, North Tripura District. Ms. Deepika Gautam is posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Santirbazar, with additional charge of CEO, Santirbazar Municipal Council.
Shubham Meena is posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kumarghat, Unakoti District, with additional charge of CEO, Kumarghat Municipal Council.
These postings have come about after the transfer of the officers earlier holding those posts. Ashis Biswas, TCS Gr-I, who was Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kanchanpur, has been transferred and posted as Joint Director, Handloom, Handicrafts & Sericulture, Tripura, Agartala.
Tarun Kanti Sarkar, TCS Gr-I, who was Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Santirbazar, with additional charge of CEO, Santirbazar Municipal Council, has been transferred and posted as Senior Deputy Collector in the Office of the D.M. & Collector, Dhalai District, Ambassa.
N. S. Chakma, TCS Gr-I, who was Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kumarghat, Unakoti District, with additional charge of CEO, Kumarghat Municipal Council, has been transferred and posted as Joint Director, GA (Printing & Stationery) Department, Agartala.
