Prime Minister Narendra Modi held separate bilateral meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek.
During his meeting with President Pezeshkian, Modi reviewed India-Iran bilateral relations and exchanged views on recent developments in the ongoing conflict in West Asia. The Prime Minister expressed concern over the escalation of tensions in the region and reiterated India’s consistent position that all issues should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
Modi also stressed the need for continued efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region. He called for safeguarding freedom of navigation and commerce, emphasising that civilians and civilian infrastructure, including commercial shipping and seafarers, must not be targeted under any circumstances.
Later, Modi met Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov to review the progress of bilateral ties and reaffirm their commitment to further strengthening the strategic partnership between India and Kyrgyzstan.
The two leaders agreed to enhance economic and commercial cooperation by leveraging.
