Ministers, MLAs Join Public to Hear 137th Episode of 'Mann Ki Baat' in Tripura

The 137th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' was heard on Sunday at two separate programmes in Tripura, one at Dhukli Bazar in Badharghat assembly constituency in the presence of Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, and another at Booth No. 19 in Kalyanpur-Pramodenagar constituency, attended by MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury.
The programme at Dhukli Bazar, under Booth No. 55 of Ward No. 45 in Badharghat assembly constituency, was attended by Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, MLA Meena Rani Sarkar, Mandal President Manish Dev, along with party workers and local leadership.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Chowdhury said, "Through 'Mann Ki Baat', the Prime Minister exchanges views with the people of the country on culture, language, food habits, the social system, cleanliness and employment, among other important issues." He added that the message delivered by the Prime Minister on employment was particularly significant.
"Employment does not mean government jobs alone. Standing on one's own feet and creating opportunities for others is also part of employment generation," the Minister said, referring to initiatives such as PM Swanidhi, Startup India, Stand Up India and Vocal for Local, which he said were aimed at making ordinary people self-reliant.
On the 'Vocal for Local' initiative, he said encouraging locally made products and strengthening the economy through their use remained among its key objectives, adding that startups, small and medium enterprises, and various loan schemes were creating new employment opportunities.
Referring to investment in the state, Chowdhury said, "Recently, through the 'Destination Tripura' programme, investment proposals worth more than Rs 1 lakh crore have come to the state." He said the current government's efforts were gradually creating new possibilities for investment and employment, and expressed hope that Tripura would progress further under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Professor Dr Manik Saha.
Explaining the significance of 'Mann Ki Baat', the Minister said the Prime Minister has been addressing the nation through the programme on the last Sunday of every month since October 2014, allowing people across the country to learn about the culture, language, food habits, tourism, sports, science and social activities of different regions.
He further said 'Mann Ki Baat' has created a connection between people from different parts of the country, from Kashmir to Mizoram, Tamil Nadu to Punjab, and Manipur to Maharashtra, strengthening national integration and patriotism. He also cited the cleanliness initiative in the Jamtui area of Kanchanpur subdivision, as well as developments in Tripura's road, rail and air connectivity, electricity and solar power sectors, as examples of the state's progress gaining national recognition.
Meanwhile, at Booth No. 19 in Kalyanpur-Pramodenagar assembly constituency, the broadcast was heard collectively by booth level workers, local residents and dignitaries in the presence of MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury, amid an atmosphere of enthusiasm and unity.
Those present listened attentively as the Prime Minister spoke about the achievements and innovative initiatives of people from different parts of the country, environmental conservation, self-reliance, and the role of citizens in nation building, while calling on people at every level of society to engage more actively in development and public welfare work.
Speaking at the programme, MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury said, "Every message of the Prime Minister reminds us of our responsibility towards the nation and society. Inspired by 'Mann Ki Baat', we must stand by the people and further strengthen public welfare initiatives." He said he remained committed to carrying forward this spirit of service, and laid emphasis on making public welfare activities in his constituency more effective and strong.
Party workers present at the programme said 'Mann Ki Baat' continues to play an important role in fostering positive thinking and a spirit of social service among the common people, adding that it inspires others to take up new initiatives by highlighting the achievements of people from remote parts of the country.
