National Sports Day: City Cyclists Pedal for Fitness at 'Sunday on Cycle' Event

Around 60 to 70 cyclists took part in the 'Sunday on Cycle – FIT India' programme held here on Sunday to mark National Sports Day, with senior sports officials and dignitaries joining the ride to promote fitness and an active lifestyle.

The programme was organised with the objective of encouraging fitness, healthy living and an active lifestyle among people through cycling.

Among those present were Tripura's Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Secretary of the Tripura Sports Council Sukanta Ghosh, Director of Sports L. Darlong, Bicycle Mayor of Tripura and SAI Ambassador Gopesh Debnath, and General Manager of the RBI Agartala Office Surendra Nidar, along with other distinguished guests, officials and participants.

The event began with cyclists riding from a designated starting point to the SAI Centre. The sight of cyclists riding together created a lively atmosphere and carried a simple but important message, that fitness need not always be complicated, and that cycling can be an enjoyable part of everyday life.

The enthusiastic participation of around 60 to 70 cyclists added considerable energy to the programme. Reportedly, the ride also served as an opportunity to bring together people from different walks of life around a common interest in fitness, sports and an active lifestyle.

The programme concluded at the SAI Centre, where towels were distributed among the participating cyclists as part of an initiative led by Arindam Gogoi of SAI. The gesture was warmly appreciated by the participants and brought the programme to a pleasant close.

It is learned that no formal statements were issued during the event. However, the proceedings reflected the spirit of National Sports Day by encouraging people to stay active, make fitness a part of their daily lives, and come together through sport and physical activity. The programme was seen by many as a fitting tribute to the day, blending civic participation with a message of wellness.
