Tourist Footfall in Tripura Sees Steady Three-Year Rise, Hits 7.29 Lakh in 2025-26

Tourist footfall in Tripura has witnessed a steady rise over the last three financial years, with the total number of visitors reaching nearly 7.3 lakh in 2025-26, the state Tourism Department informed the Legislative Assembly.
The official data was provided in a written reply by the department in response to a question raised by legislator Antara Sarkar Deb during the assembly session.
According to the statistics, the state welcomed a total of 5,45,299 tourists during the 2023-24 financial year. Of this number, 4,69,328 were domestic travelers and 75,971 were foreign nationals.
The subsequent 2024-25 financial year saw a substantial jump, as total arrivals climbed to 7,07,173. This figure included 6,27,705 domestic visitors and an increased count of 79,468 international tourists.
The upward trajectory continued into the 2025-26 financial year, pushing total tourist arrivals to 7,29,414. However, the data revealed a notable internal shift. While the number of domestic tourists surged significantly to reach 7,10,243, the state experienced a sharp decline in foreign visitors, with only 19,171 international arrivals recorded.
Meanwhile, the exact growth rate between the 2024-25 and 2025-26 financial years was also discussed in the Assembly. The rise in total tourist footfall from 7,07,173 to 7,29,414 reflects an overall growth of approximately 3.14 percent.
