The Meghalaya government has launched the CM-IMPACT Read & Rise Meghalaya programme to improve foundational reading skills and address learning gaps among schoolchildren across the state.
The initiative aims to ensure that every child is able to read and write by the age of seven. It is part of the Meghalaya Universal Reading Readiness Mission, which focuses on strengthening early learning and improving educational outcomes, particularly in rural and remote areas.
State Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui attended the launch, during which a Teacher Training Guide for Universal Reading Readiness was also released.
The programme is expected to strengthen foundational education, improve reading readiness and help enhance overall academic outcomes among children in Meghalaya.
