BJP-Motha Seat-Sharing Deal to be Announced Soon: CM Dr. Saha

With little time left before the village committee elections, Chief Minister Manik Saha said on Tuesday that a decision on the BJP-TIPRA Motha seat-sharing arrangement would be announced very soon, despite ongoing differences between the two allies.
Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister downplayed the delay in finalising the alliance's seat arrangement, saying differences within a political partnership are natural and that a consensus decision would eventually emerge through discussion.
"There is always some problem or the other even at home. We are political partners. Sometimes they want something, we don't. This happens. In the end we will reach a decision. There will be consensus. It will be announced later," Saha said.
Asked directly about the matter, he said it would be resolved soon, adding that with time running short, a decision would be made public very shortly.
The Chief Minister also criticised recent remarks by CPI(M) general secretary M A Baby, who had said the Left was regaining political ground by highlighting a lack of development under the BJP-led coalition government. Saha dismissed the comments as rehearsed lines.
He claimed that critics of the state's development record based outside Tripura lack an accurate picture of the ground situation, and that the change brought by development is visible across the state, from the airport onward.
According to Saha, visitors to Tripura are often unaware of the real picture of development but come to acknowledge the progress personally after travelling through different parts of the state.
He asserted that there is no question over development in the state, adding that the CPI(M)'s support has declined considerably and that its real standing would become clear in the next assembly election.
