Tension Continues at Churaibari School After SFI-ABVP Clash Over Flag Hoisting

Tension continued at Churaibari school on Tuesday over a clash between SFI and ABVP activists during the Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony, after ABVP alleged that four of its students were seriously injured in the incident.
Following the clash, ABVP filed a complaint against several SFI members at Churaibari police station. Police have since detained two persons in connection with the case. However, ABVP alleged that the remaining accused had not yet been arrested.
Demanding their immediate arrest, ABVP activists laid siege to and staged a protest outside Churaibari police station on Tuesday. The demonstration continued for nearly two hours, from noon to 2 pm, with ABVP workers and supporters gathered in front of the station.
The protest created a tense situation at the police station, and normal activities there were disrupted for some time.
The protesters demanded that those accused in the case be arrested swiftly and brought under legal proceedings. They also called for strict action against those responsible for the injuries sustained by the students.
Subsequently, the officer in charge of Churaibari police station spoke with the protesters and assured them that necessary legal steps would be taken to arrest the remaining accused at the earliest. Following this assurance from police, ABVP withdrew its siege and protest programme.
However, tension continues to simmer in the area over the clash, which took place on the school premises during the Independence Day programme. Demands have been raised for a complete investigation into the incident and legal action against those found guilty.
