The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a month-long nationwide Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, with a focus on promoting public service and encouraging citizens, particularly the youth, to participate in community welfare activities.
Briefing the media in New Delhi on Saturday, BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde said the campaign would also commemorate 25 years since Modi took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001.
As part of the campaign, BJP workers will visit more than 14 lakh Anganwadi centres across the country and organise programmes to honour Anganwadi workers for their contribution to child nutrition and upbringing, Tawde said.
The party will also encourage people to undertake various acts of service, including cleanliness drives and tree plantation programmes. Youth participation will be given special emphasis, with people also being urged to share reels highlighting their service activities to inspire others.
Tawde further announced a 15-day Seva Setu Abhiyan at the block level. Under the initiative, officials from departments implementing various government schemes will be available with the necessary documents to assist people who may have been left out of welfare programmes.
The initiative aims to provide such beneficiaries an opportunity to access the benefits of eligible government schemes at the block level, he said.
