PM Modi Meets Space Startup Leaders, Pushes Wider Use of Space Technology

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday interacted with the CEOs and founders of 20 Indian space startups and called for wider use of space technology to improve people’s lives.
During the meeting, Modi said India’s space sector has the potential to attract global talent, companies and investment. He stressed the need to create an ecosystem where India becomes a global destination for space innovation and business.
The Prime Minister also urged greater collaboration between the space industry and other sectors of social development. He encouraged startups to explore applications of space technology in agriculture, livestock management, dairy, environmental protection and other areas affecting everyday life.
Modi further called for closer cooperation between space companies and Atal Tinkering Labs to nurture curiosity and interest in space among young people.
Congratulating the entrepreneurs for entering a challenging and emerging field, Modi said their confidence and efforts had strengthened the vision behind opening India’s space sector to private participation. He assured the startups that the government would continue to support them as they work to build India’s future capabilities in space.
The startup founders highlighted the rapid growth of India’s private space industry and said the opening of the sector to private participation had created several new opportunities. They also appreciated the government’s support and the growing collaboration within the industry.
Among the startups represented at the meeting were Skyroot Aerospace, Agnikul Cosmos, Pixxel, Dhruva Space, GalaxEye, PierSight, Bellatrix Aerospace and Digantara, among others.
Modi said India has the potential to offer the world a strong, innovative and commercially viable model in the space sector, and urged the young companies to remain ambitious in their efforts to establish India as a leading global space power.
