Major recruitment push in Tripura: 1,177 posts to be filled

In a significant move aimed at strengthening manpower across key government departments, the Tripura Cabinet on Thursday approved the recruitment of 1,177 personnel and creation of 305 new posts.
The decisions were taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and were announced by Cabinet spokesperson and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury at a press conference at the Secretariat.
A major component of the decision is the recruitment of 916 police constables, including male and female candidates, under the Home Department. The selection process will comprise physical fitness tests, written examination and viva voce, with the recruitment board to function under the leadership of the Director General of Police.
The Cabinet also cleared the recruitment of 219 Lower Division Clerks under the Health and Family Welfare Department through the Tripura Joint Recruitment Board (JRBT). Besides, 27 technical Group-C posts under the General Administration (Printing and Stationery) Department were approved for recruitment through JRBT.
The government has also sanctioned 105 posts for four proposed Government Railway Police stations at Bishramganj, Udaipur, Belonia and Sabroom. The posts include Sub-Inspectors, Women Sub-Inspectors, Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Women Head Constables, Women Constables and Constable Drivers.
Under the Tribal Welfare Department, 15 fixed-pay positions, including LDC and Multi-Tasking Staff posts, will also be filled through JRBT.
In another important decision, the Cabinet approved the creation of 200 Assistant Professor posts for government general degree colleges across the state. However, the government clarified that the approval pertains to creation of the posts and does not imply immediate recruitment against all 200 positions.
The Cabinet further approved the Shri Shri University, Tripura Bill, 2026, paving the way for the proposed university to offer programmes ranging from certificates and diplomas to postgraduate, MPhil, PhD and post-doctoral courses, besides honorary degrees.
The latest decisions are expected to augment the state's administrative and policing infrastructure while creating fresh employment opportunities for job aspirants in Tripura.
