Village Committee Polls in Tripura: BJP discusses strategy, alliance prospects

The Tripura Pradesh BJP held a key organisational meeting at Sonar Tori State Guest House in Agartala on Tuesday to strengthen the party organisation and chalk out strategies for the upcoming Village Committee (VC) elections and other local polls.
The meeting was chaired by BJP state president and MLA Abhishek Debroy and attended by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, along with party ministers and MLAs.
The upcoming Village Committee elections received particular attention during the meeting, with discussions focusing on the party's organisational preparedness and electoral strategy. The leadership also reviewed plans for the forthcoming elections to Nagar Panchayats, Municipal Councils and the Municipal Corporation.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Abhishek Debroy said that the party was preparing for several elections and that discussions were held on organisational matters, election strategy and measures required to further strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
The BJP state president also indicated that discussions were underway regarding a possible alliance with the Tipra Motha Party for the upcoming elections. He said that Tipra Motha is currently an alliance partner of the BJP and that talks on the future electoral arrangement are continuing.
Debroy said a decision on the alliance may take a few more days and that details would be made public once the discussions are concluded. He also noted that the BJP is a national party and that important decisions concerning alliances are taken at the appropriate level.
The meeting assumes significance as political parties in Tripura have begun preparations for the upcoming Village Committee elections. The BJP's organisational exercise is aimed at strengthening its grassroots network and ensuring greater preparedness for the electoral battles ahead.
