Agartala Celebrates Manasa Devi Puja with Traditional Fervour

Agartala is celebrating the festivities of Manasa Devi Puja today, with grand worship of the goddess taking place at Durgabari and various homes and pandals across the city amid an atmosphere of devotion and festive fervour. Enthusiasm among devotees has been visible since early morning.
At Durgabari, the puja is being observed this year too in keeping with tradition, and the main rituals have already been completed. A special aarti of the goddess will be held in the evening. The Dashami puja will take place tomorrow morning, following which the ghat will be taken to Rajbari in the afternoon.
The puja at Durgabari carries a long tradition linked to the history of the royal family. According to the temple priest, this puja from the Rajbari has continued for nearly 500 years and is primarily known as a royal family puja. The custom of offering special worship to Manasa Ashtama Devi on the day of Sankranti has also continued for a long time.
On the occasion of the puja, devotees are praying to the goddess for the wellbeing, good health and prosperity of their families. Along with this, devotees are also offering prayers for the peace, prosperity and overall welfare of India.
The celebrations reflect the deep religious sentiment attached to the centuries old tradition, with the city witnessing continued participation from devotees throughout the day as the rituals proceed according to custom.
