Traffic Dept Launches Drive to Regulate Entry of Outside E-Rickshaws in City

The traffic department carried out a drive on Tuesday to regulate the entry and movement of e-rickshaws from outside areas into Agartala city, with the operation conducted near the Uttar Gate area under the leadership of Traffic DSP Pranab Das.
According to traffic department sources, regular drives will be conducted against e-rickshaws coming from outside the city's designated routes. E-rickshaws holding valid route permits have been instructed to strictly follow their designated routes.
Traffic DSP Pranab Das said outside e-rickshaws will not be allowed to enter the city freely. They will be permitted entry only under certain specified conditions. E-rickshaws coming from Mohanpur, Amtali or other directions will be allowed to travel up to a designated limit. However, to enter the city, they must display a board in front stating a specific reason for entry. Vehicles carrying school and college students, patients, or airport passengers must compulsorily display such a board while entering the city.
There have also been complaints of e-rickshaws being parked on various important roads across the city, causing traffic congestion and creating problems for pedestrians and other vehicles. The traffic department said this issue is also being monitored. Legal action was taken against violators during the day's drive, and fines were imposed on them.
Traffic authorities said monitoring will not be limited to e-rickshaws alone, and bikes or other vehicles parked indiscriminately on the streets will also come under watch. Drives against rule violators will continue regularly to keep city traffic movement normal.
