TSECL Suspends Two Engineers Over Billing Irregularities, Service Lapses

Two engineers of the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited have been placed under temporary suspension after complaints surfaced of negligence in billing duties and delays in service delivery, according to government sources.

The action was taken following allegations that the two engineers failed to discharge their responsibilities properly in matters related to electricity billing. Sources said the complaints also pointed to delays in service delivery and a lack of proper accountability towards consumers. Both engineers have been removed from their duties while the matter is investigated.

Meanwhile, the conduct of several other engineers is also being examined over similar allegations of billing irregularities and delayed service delivery. The concerned authorities are verifying whether these complaints are valid and whether there was any negligence on the part of the staff involved. The corporation has indicated that further disciplinary steps may follow depending on the outcome of the investigation.

In recent times, consumers across the state have voiced growing dissatisfaction over billing errors, complications in bills, and delays in restoring disrupted service. Several consumers have accused sections of the electricity department of failing to respond adequately to complaints and of negligence in performing their duties.

The suspension is being seen as a strong message from TSECL against negligence in official duty. The corporation is reportedly reviewing its internal monitoring systems to ensure greater transparency in billing, customer service and service restoration. The development has triggered discussion across the state, with consumers hoping it will improve accountability in electricity services going forward.
