31 More ECMS Projects Approved, 9,500 Jobs Expected

The government has approved 31 more applications under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), with a projected investment of ₹7,877 crore and the potential to create more than 9,500 employment opportunities.
Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw handed over the approvals to the applicants at an event in New Delhi.
The approved applications come from 10 states, including seven from Tamil Nadu and six each from Maharashtra and Haryana. The projects cover the manufacture of a range of electronic components, including acetylene black, speakers and microphones, optical transceivers, capacitors and coils.
With the latest approvals, a total of 106 company applications have now been approved under the ECMS.
Speaking at the event, Vaishnaw said the government had initially set a target of attracting ₹59,000 crore in investment through the scheme. However, the projected investment has now crossed ₹69,000 crore, exceeding the original target.
The expansion is expected to further strengthen India’s domestic electronics component manufacturing ecosystem, reduce dependence on imports and generate new employment opportunities across the sector.
