The Lok Sabha on Wednesday referred the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for detailed scrutiny and wider consultations.
The Bill seeks to further amend the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, with the objective of making the use of foreign contributions more transparent and accountable.
Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai moved the motion to refer the Bill to the JPC, which will comprise members from both Houses of Parliament.
The committee will have 21 members from the Lok Sabha, nominated by the Speaker, and 10 members from the Rajya Sabha, nominated by the Chairman.
Rai said the committee will examine the proposed amendments and hold wider consultations before submitting its report to the Lok Sabha by the last day of the first week of the Winter Session.
