Central team inspects Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Agartala Civil Hospital

A high-level Central Government delegation visited Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Agartala Civil Hospital on Monday to inspect the hospital's services and infrastructure, officials said.
The team included National Health Authority CEO Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal, National Health Mission Tripura Mission Director Saju Wahid A., National Health Mission Deputy Secretary Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, and Ayushman Bharat CEO and State Mission Director G. Sarat Nayak. IGM Hospital Superintendent Dr. Nirmal Sarkar was also present during the visit.
According to officials, the delegation carried out a detailed review of service delivery across the hospital's outpatient department, inpatient department, emergency section, wards and medical store.
The visit comes nearly a month after Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha inaugurated the hospital on July 12, 2026. The facility currently runs five specialist departments, namely Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Medicine, Dermatology, Paediatrics and Ophthalmology, along with dental services.
The hospital also offers various types of blood tests. It is fully air-conditioned and provides paperless services, features that have drawn growing interest from patients and the public.
Officials said the standard of healthcare services in the state has been steadily improving, with the state government continuing to focus on strengthening health infrastructure and services.
