Hormuz Strait to Stay Closed Amid US Blockade: Iran

The Strait of Hormuz will remain closed as long as the United States continues its naval blockade against Iran, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said on Monday.
Speaking at a weekly press briefing in Tehran, Baqaei said the strategic waterway was closed following what Iran described as US and Israeli military aggression against the country.
He said the reopening of the Strait would depend on the conditions imposed on Iran and the waterway by the United States and Israel.
Baqaei also addressed reports of talks between Iran and Oman over an alternative shipping route, saying the matter was bilateral and concerned the two countries.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said there were currently no ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States.
