Ashmita Chaliha wins maiden BWF title at Korea Masters

Indian shuttler Ashmita Chaliha won her maiden BWF World Tour title after defeating China’s Han Qian Xi in the women’s singles final of the Korea Masters 2026 on Sunday.
Chaliha overcame a slow start to secure a 14-21, 21-14, 21-14 victory in 53 minutes. After dropping the opening game, the Assam shuttler dominated the next two games to complete a memorable comeback and lift her first BWF title.
The 26-year-old had booked her place in the final with a hard-fought 21-13, 16-21, 21-13 victory over fellow Indian Rakshitha Ramraj in Saturday’s semifinal.
Han advanced to the final after beating South Korea’s G Kim 22-20, 18-21, 21-14 in the other semifinal.
Chaliha has previously enjoyed success on the international stage, winning gold in the women’s singles and team events at the 2019 South Asian Games. She was also part of India’s gold-medal-winning team at the 2024 Asia Team Championships.
