BJP Reviews VC Poll Strategy, Alliance With TIPRA Motha Remains Open

The BJP has stepped up preparations for the upcoming Village Committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), with the party’s top leadership holding discussions on its electoral strategy and future political course in the state.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, who attended a meeting with the BJP’s central leadership in New Delhi, said the discussions covered the party’s strategy for the forthcoming elections and its political position in the days ahead. BJP national president Nitin Nabin and national organisational secretary B.L. Santosh were among those present at the meeting.
However, Saha remained tight-lipped about the specific decisions taken during the deliberations, saying that details would be disclosed once the process was finalised.
The possibility of an electoral understanding with the TIPRA Motha Party has emerged as a key point of political speculation ahead of the Village Committee polls. Asked whether the BJP was considering an alliance or understanding with TIPRA Motha, the Chief Minister said a decision had not yet been finalised.
Saha also did not rule out the possibility of another meeting with TIPRA Motha leaders in New Delhi, indicating that further discussions could take place if required.
The developments come amid renewed political activity surrounding the tribal council elections. While the BJP and TIPRA Motha are currently engaged in separate political preparations, the possibility of a joint electoral arrangement has added a fresh dimension to the contest.
The Chief Minister also referred to the continuing process concerning the long-pending tripartite agreement, but did not specify any timeline for its outcome.
With the Village Committee elections approaching, the BJP’s latest consultations and Saha’s remarks have intensified speculation over the shape of the electoral contest and the possibility of a broader political understanding between the two parties.
