CRPF Pays Tribute to Constable Jai Dev Sharma on 30th Martyrdom Anniversary

The Central Reserve Police Force paid tribute on Friday to Constable Jai Dev Sharma of its 113 Battalion, marking 30 years since he made the supreme sacrifice in an IED blast while on patrol duty in Tripura on 7 August 1996.
Constable Sharma, a native of Haryana born on 24 January 1965, was part of an area domination patrol conducted by troops of 113 Battalion on 7 August 1996 when they spotted three IEDs planted between grass and trees. While the troops waited for the bomb disposal squad to arrive, one of the IEDs exploded, causing Constable Sharma to slip off the edge of a hill into a deep valley.
He was evacuated to Rural Hospital, Teliamura, where he was declared dead. He attained martyrdom in the line of duty while serving the nation.
Sharing the tribute on social media, the CRPF stated,"DG and all Ranks of CRPF pay solemn tribute to Ct/GD Jay Dev Sharma of 113 Bn, who made the supreme sacrifice after falling from a hill due to an IED blast while on an area domination patrol in Tripura on 7 August 1996. CRPF salutes the braveheart and pledges never to let his sacrifice go in vain."
According to the force, the tribute reflects its continued commitment to honouring personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty. The CRPF said Constable Sharma's sacrifice would continue to inspire serving personnel across the force.
