Biplab Deb Honours Commonwealth Games Judo Gold Medallist Asmita Dey

West Tripura MP Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday felicitated Tripura’s celebrated judoka Asmita Dey, India’s first woman to win a gold medal in judo at the Commonwealth Games, at his residence in Delhi.
Congratulating the young sportsperson on her historic achievement, Deb extended his best wishes for her future endeavours and praised her dedication, hard work, discipline and unwavering determination.
Deb said Asmita’s remarkable success has made the entire country and Tripura proud, describing her achievement as an inspiration for young people across India. He said her ability to overcome challenges and reach the highest level through perseverance would continue to motivate aspiring athletes.
The MP also expressed hope that with the blessings of Mata Tripura Sundari, Asmita would continue to bring glory to the country on the international stage.
Asmita Dey, a 23-year-old judoka from Belonia in South Tripura, scripted history by winning India’s first-ever judo gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in the women’s 48kg category.
