DoNER Minister and CWG Gold medalist Mirabai Chanu discuss nurturing more champions from Northeast

Union Minister for Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday met Commonwealth Games gold medallist Mirabai Chanu in New Delhi and congratulated her on winning a record-extending third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal in Glasgow.
During the meeting, Scindia praised Chanu's determination and perseverance, saying her achievement would inspire aspiring athletes across the country, particularly in the Northeast. The two also discussed key aspects of high-performance sports, including training, nutrition, recovery and athlete support.
The Minister highlighted the Centre's efforts to strengthen the sporting ecosystem in the Northeast through the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region's High-Level Task Force and the One State, One Sport initiative. He said the government's focus is on developing world-class coaching, scientific training and modern sports infrastructure to nurture more sporting champions from the region.
