Minister for Tribal Welfare, Bikash Debbarma, on Monday ordered a detailed inquiry into allegations of irregularities in the supply of food items at the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Memorial Girls' Hostel located on Jagannath Bari Road in Agartala.
The minister paid an unannounced visit to the hostel after receiving complaints regarding the quality and management of food supplies. During the inspection, he interacted extensively with the resident students to hear their concerns firsthand and also sought detailed explanations from the hostel authorities regarding the allegations.
Emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability, the minister directed the concerned administrative officials to conduct a fair, impartial and time-bound investigation into every aspect of the complaints.
He instructed the authorities to submit their findings at the earliest so that appropriate action could be initiated without delay.
Speaking after the inspection, Debbarma said the welfare, safety and rights of students remain a top priority for the state government. He asserted that negligence or any form of irregularity affecting hostel residents would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
"The complaints raised by the students will be examined thoroughly and without bias. If the allegations are found to be true, stringent action will be taken against those responsible in accordance with the law," the minister said.
