Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurates Rs 2.2-Crore Rural Market in Unakoti

Minister for Power, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ratan Lal Nath, on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed Betchhara Rural Market under the Kumarghat Agriculture Sub-Division in Unakoti district, marking another step towards strengthening the state's rural agricultural infrastructure.
Sharing the development on his social media handle, the minister said the market, built at a cost of approximately Rs 2.20 crore, has been opened for farmers, traders and the general public. He said the modern market will help farmers secure fair prices for their produce while boosting local trade and strengthening the rural economy.
Highlighting the government's efforts in the agriculture sector, Nath said that since the BJP came to power in Tripura, the modernization and upgradation of rural agricultural markets have been progressing rapidly across the state.
The minister informed that between 2018-19 and 2025-26, the state government allocated Rs 461.83 crore for the development of 204 rural markets, aimed at improving marketing infrastructure and enhancing income opportunities for farmers.
Reiterating the government's commitment to farmers' welfare and rural development, Nath said efforts to modernize agricultural markets and strengthen the rural economy would continue in the years ahead.
