PM Modi inaugurates Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Andhra Pradesh


Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Greenfield Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district.

Developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model at a cost of over ₹5,640 crore, the airport has an annual passenger handling capacity of six million. It features state-of-the-art facilities, including AI-powered systems, biometric passenger processing, and automated baggage handling.

During the inauguration, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu briefed the Prime Minister on the airport's key features. The new airport is expected to enhance air connectivity in the region while supporting tourism, trade, and economic development across northern Andhra Pradesh.
