A powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture on Tuesday afternoon, prompting the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) to issue a tsunami advisory for the coasts of the Ariake Sea and the Yatsushiro Sea.
Following the quake, operators of the Genkai Nuclear Power Station in Saga Prefecture and the Sendai Nuclear Power Station in Kagoshima Prefecture said they were conducting inspections to determine whether the facilities had sustained any damage or operational abnormalities.
