Iran Warns Ukraine of Retaliation Over Alleged Attack on Commercial Vessel

Iran has warned Ukraine that it will face consequences over an alleged attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea.
Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian parliament's National Security Commission, said in a social media post that any attack on Iran "comes with a cost" and warned that the reported strike would not go unanswered.
The warning followed accusations by Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who claimed that Ukraine was responsible for the attack, which reportedly killed one sailor and injured another. Araghchi also alleged that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had ordered the strike.
Iran has summoned Ukraine's acting chargé d'affaires in Tehran to lodge a formal diplomatic protest over the incident.
The allegations came after President Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine had carried out long-range strikes on military-related targets in Russia, including in the Caspian Sea. Ukraine has not publicly responded to Iran's accusations or confirmed any attack on an Iranian commercial vessel.
