CM Manik Saha Rejects Politicisation of Homeopathy Hospital Renaming

The Tripura government on Saturday moved to clear the air over the renaming of the Netaji Subhas State Homeopathy Hospital, with Chief Minister Manik Saha stating that only the word "State" was being dropped, in line with the naming pattern used for other medical institutions in the state.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a BJP organisational workshop at the party's state office in Agartala, Dr Saha said reports claiming Netaji's name was being removed were completely false.
"Netaji's name will remain unchanged. Only certain changes are being made in the naming of the medical institution as per the prevailing administrative convention," he said.
He said the change followed a set pattern already applied to institutions such as Agartala Government Medical College and GB Hospital, and the Dental College.
"The name Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will remain fully intact," the Chief Minister said.
However, he alleged that certain quarters were deliberately trying to politicise the issue.
"This is not correct. People have created a wrong impression, and it is being deliberately given a political shape," Dr Saha said.
"Netaji's name will remain as it was before," he added.
The Chief Minister informed that under the new naming convention, the institution's official name would be Homeopathy Medical College and Netaji Subhas Bose Hospital.
The clarification came amid public confusion that had built up around the renaming issue in recent days.
