The Union Cabinet has approved a draft bill aimed at ensuring stricter punishment for paper leak cases and examination malpractices. The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Parliament House complex on Friday.
The proposed legislation seeks to establish fast-track courts for the speedy disposal of cases related to paper leaks and other examination-related offences. It also provides for tougher legal action against those involved in such malpractices.
According to official sources, the bill is expected to be introduced in Parliament next week. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that the government would bring a law with stringent provisions to curb paper leaks and safeguard the integrity of public examinations.
