The United States has launched a fresh round of military strikes against Iran, as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.
US President Donald Trump has warned Iran of a massive retaliation, saying Tehran would "pay many times over" following attacks that killed three American soldiers, including two in Jordan and one in Iraq.
In a social media post, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the latest strikes were aimed at further degrading Iranian military capabilities used to target commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that its naval forces had carried out three rounds of missile and drone attacks on US assets and facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait in retaliation for recent US strikes on Iranian provinces.
According to the IRGC, the first round targeted drone maintenance and repair hangars used by US forces at Al-Sakhir Air Base in Bahrain. It claimed the second round struck US facilities housing Task Force 59 vessels at Salman Port in Bahrain, causing significant damage. In the third round, the IRGC said it destroyed facilities used to station, support and equip US special naval commandos at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait.
Meanwhile, Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the repeated Iranian attacks, saying they targeted vital civilian infrastructure and posed a direct threat to civilian lives. Kuwait also alleged that Iranian drones targeted its civil air navigation systems, but said air navigation services remained unaffected.
