Tripura on Tuesday paid a heartfelt tribute to Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar with full state honours, observing a one-day state mourning in recognition of his distinguished service to the state and the nation.
As part of the mourning, the National Flag and police flags were flown at half-mast across government offices. A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Tripura Police Headquarters, where officers and personnel from across the police force gathered to pay their final respects. The ceremony was marked by silence and emotion as colleagues bid farewell to their chief.
The mortal remains were later taken to the State Secretariat, where Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Cabinet Ministers, legislators, senior bureaucrats and officials from various departments offered floral tributes and observed a minute's silence in his memory.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha also shared a message on X, saying he paid his last respects to the late DGP and remembered him as a dedicated and highly professional officer who served the people of Tripura with commitment and integrity. He conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for strength during this difficult time.
Anurag Dhankar's last rites will be performed in his native Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. His untimely demise has left the police fraternity and the state administration mourning the loss of a respected officer whose service and leadership will be remembered.
