Tripura Govt Appoints Guardian Ministers for All Eight Districts


In a move to strengthen district-level governance, the Government of Tripura assigned eleven state cabinet members to serve as Guardian Ministers across its eight districts on Friday, July 17, 2026, through an order executed by the Governor in Agartala.

According to an official notification issued by the Chief Minister's Secretariat, specific ministers have been delegated to oversee regional administration. The official document, signed by Deputy Secretary to the Government of Tripura P. Debnath, formalized the distribution of these state responsibilities. It is learned that a detailed list of duties for the newly appointed Guardian Ministers was enclosed alongside the main notification.

Reportedly, the appointments cover every district in the state using a mix of single and joint administrative assignments. Three districts will feature joint representation. North Tripura will be overseen by Santana Chakma and Sukla Charan Noatia. Moreover, Gomati district has been assigned to Kishor Barman and Animesh Debbarma, while South Tripura will be managed by Sudhangshu Das and Brishaketu Debbarma.

Meanwhile, the remaining five districts will be guided by individual ministers. Sushanta Chowdhury has been appointed to Unakoti, and Ratan Lal Nath will take charge of Dhalai. Additionally, Tinku Roy has been assigned to Khowai, Pranajit Singha Roy to West Tripura, and Bikash Debbarma to Sepahijala.

To ensure proper administrative coordination, a formal copy of this directive was forwarded directly to the Secretary to the Governor of Tripura at Lok Bhawan.
