Paresh Rawal Says He Originated OMG 2 Idea, Claims Script Changed After Akshay Kumar Joined

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has claimed that the original concept behind OMG 2 was his idea and said he stepped away from the project after major changes were made to the script.
Rawal said he had initially approached filmmaker Amit Rai, director of Road to Sangam, with the idea and worked with him on developing the story. According to the actor, the film was originally planned as an educational yet entertaining drama focusing on a sensitive social issue.
Explaining the early version of the story, Rawal said it revolved around a young boy whose life is disrupted after a private incident involving him goes viral. The boy’s father, a tourist guide at the Khajuraho temple, was later developed as a part-time priest at the Mahakal Temple.
Rawal said he and Rai worked extensively on the screenplay and even consulted sexologist Dr Prakash Kothari to ensure the subject was handled responsibly. He added that their aim was to create a film that was informative, engaging, and free from vulgarity.
The actor further alleged that the project underwent significant changes after Akshay Kumar joined the film and claimed he was not given credit for the original story or concept. Rawal said he disagreed with some of the changes, including the introduction of a divine character, and eventually chose to distance himself from the project.
OMG 2, released in 2023, starred Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam and explored themes related to sex education and social awareness.
