Earthquake Hits Southern Mexico

A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the southern coast of Mexico yesterday, prompting authorities to implement precautionary safety measures.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said no damage has been reported following the earthquake. However, she said safety measures have been put in place and advised people to stay away from beaches because of the potential risk of a tsunami.

The President also urged the public to follow the recommendations of Civil Protection authorities as government teams continue inspections and assess the situation.
