The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated spells of extremely heavy rain until tomorrow.
The weather agency has also forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand today.
In addition, heavy rainfall is likely over Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Odisha and several other parts of Northeast India.
The IMD has advised residents in the affected regions to remain alert and follow weather advisories, as intense rainfall may lead to waterlogging, flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.
